Why Parents Love Guided Canvas

Less overwhelming than paint-by-numbers. More creative than following instructions.

The perfect amount of guidance! We tried the Journey Around Earth Guided Canvas Kit and my 8-year-old loved it. The sketch gave him enough direction that he wasn’t staring at a blank canvas wondering what to paint, but there were no rules about what color everything had to be.

My daughter has tried paint-by-number kits before and usually gets frustrated trying to stay inside tiny numbered spaces. Guided Canvas was completely different. She had a sketch to help her get started, but she still got to choose her colors, mix paints, and make it her own. It felt like she was actually creating art instead of just filling in boxes.

My son likes art but gets overwhelmed easily when there are too many little instructions to follow. Paint by numbers became more about finding the right number than actually painting. With Guided Canvas, he can see exactly what he’s painting but still has the freedom to experiment. He stayed focused on it for almost an hour!

The Monkey Business Guided Canvas Kit was adorable and just challenging enough for my 6-year-old. She decided her monkey needed a purple shirt and added her own little details around the background.
